By : Chha

If you are a Penangites, i am pretty sure you already heard of HaiDiLao Hotpot | 海底捞 which is located at Gurney Paragon, Penang.  When ever i heard about HaiDiLao Hotpot, the first thing that come to my mind is that crazy long queue outside their restaurant. When HaiDiLao Hotpot first open in Penang, the crazy queue instantly build up where everyone need to stand in line and wait for their turn to get in. One thing great about HaiDiLao Hotpot is their attention to details, soon, they started implementing the queue numbering system where you can scan for a queue number with your mobile phone and wait for your table while you shop in Gurney Paragon. Now, they even have a waiting area where you can sit down and have some snacks like popcorn while you wait for your number to be called.

The moment you step into HaiDiLao Hotpot, there will be someone to usher you directly to your table and introduce you to the staff who will be serving your table throughout your entire meal. One staff will be at a particular zone where he or she will attend to your every need while dining there, this actually makes their serving service very efficient.

I was attended by 徐采佳, hopefully i get her name right ~ haha, who is a very detail oriented person, friendly and warm, this makes my entire dining experience in HaiDiLao Hotpot a pleasant and awesome one. If i were to rate her service, i would give a 10/10 and two thumbs up for her. She is kind enough to provide me with an apron so that the hotpot soup does not splash onto my cloths, a sleeves cover so that my long sleeves shirt does not get dip into the hotpot soup and also help me with my ordering as i don't even understand anything written on their menu which is in mandarin, she also offer to help me in mixing my dipping sauce for me of which i end up loving the dipping sauce very much ! She deserve a raise and promotion, haha ! (^.^)

Depending on your eating ability and appetite, the hotpot come in three different size which is full hotpot size, half or quarter, though every pot can be use for eating but it depends on your customization. There are multiple type of soup base available here but due to my small eating habit i only manage to order two type of soup base which are the Tomato Soup Hot Pot (RM 12.00) and Pork Stomach and Chicken Soup (RM 10.00) in a quarter size. The soup base is bottomless.

Pork Stomach and Chicken Soup

This creamy white soup has fresh and rich flavor with some black pepper taste in it that give a spicy after taste is yummy. It is made from selected pork tripe and chicken boiled by slow heat.

Tomato Soup Hot Pot

Made from selected tomatoes that have enjoyed abundant of sunshine are made into sauce. The sauce is then fried to make the tomato soup base. It has some sour sweet tomato taste making it very appetizing especially when it is serve hot on the pot !

Chicken RM 11.00

If you look at HaiDiLao Hotpot's menu, there are a lot of raw food to choose from where you have to cook it by yourself in the hotpot. There are various meat, beef, chicken, pork, fish, seafood and more to choose from. You may choose to either have it serve Large or Small, i choose to have it serve as Small so that i can try more different type of food here.

Sliced Pork Belly RM 32.00

All the meat here are sliced into very thin layer of meat making it easier to cook in bowling soup and faster too. Since it is able to be cooked faster because of its thin layer of meat, the texture of the meat is soft as it does not need to be dipped inside the bowling soup for too long and the feelings of biting into it is just so satisfying. Other than Chicken and Pork there are also U.S Sliced Beef Short Plate, Beef and lamb platter, Aussie Sliced Lamb Shoulder, Signature Beef, Australia Ox-tongue and more to choose from.

Fishball with filling RM 9.00

While on the Classic Hot Pot Dishes category of the menu you may find food like Luncheon Meat, Crab Stick, Mini Cheese Sausages, Fishball and more of those small bites food. Seafood like Mud Crab, Boston Baby Lobster, Crab, Red Garoupa, Abalone, Red Tilapia and more is also available here at HaiDiLao Hotpot. To tune things down a little, you may choose to have some of the available vegetables too like the Sliced Bamboo Shoots, Taro, Bamboo Fungus, Oyster Mushrooms, Spinach and more.

You might have also heard about their hand pull noodles, where one of the staff from HaiDiLao Hotpot will actually bring a dough of noodles and start swinging and pulling it in front of you with style ! This is actually interesting to watch while the staff prepare the noodles and once ready, he will help to put the noodles into the hot pot soup that you have chosen.

At HaiDiLao Hotpot, there are also a lot of dipping sauce that you can mix and match according to your liking and taste. If i understand correctly, the dipping sauce is charge RM 8.00 per person but you can take as much as you like as long as you can finish what you take. It is nice to mix around all the sauce available here.

To complete the meal at HaiDiLao Hotpot, some simple dessert is also available here, there are ice cream, pudding and jelly drinks. If that is not enough, they also serve some fruits. HaiDiLao Hotpot makes sure that you are full before leaving their restaurant with a happy tummy and happy heart.
