나 둘 셋 kimchi !!!! hahaha .. even the goat smile, so there is no reason for you to frown ! Smile, i command you to .. hahaha ! now you look silly smiling at your phone or computer. It is at 莎能牧羊场(Saanen Dairy Goat Farm)where you are able to see goat like this in Penang. In the year of the goat according to the chinese calendar, visiting a goat farm seems to be a fun thing to do for us, haha ! Getting to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is not easy, even the GPS bring us to the wrong place. Located at Balik Pulau, Penang, Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is one of those 3 goat farm available here but we decided to visit the Saanen Dairy Goat Farm because we heard more good review on the Saanen Dairy Goat Farm and it is also free of charge. No entrance fee needed.
So how to get to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm ? First, drive all the way up to Balik Pulau town and you will see a small round about, so if you are coming from Relau or Paya Terubong area, then you will need to take the 2nd exit of the round about, then drive straight for around 2 to 3 km until you come to Bandar Baru Air Puteh, you will see a sign board on your right. This is where Kim Laksa is located but you will need to keep on drive straight without taking the turn into Bandar Baru Air Puteh. Keep driving until you see the Pantai Acheh sign board on your left or a Saanen Dairy Goat Farm sign board also on your left or if you miss out both that sign you can try so find the S.J.K (c) Sin Min school and make a left turn before the school, not after ! After that drive straight and this time you will have to be very very careful not to over look the Saanen Dairy Goat Farm sign board which is on your right, this is the right turn that you will need to take to reach Saanen Dairy Goat Farm. So turn right when you see the sign board. Don't freak out if you realize you are actually driving into a small narrow road with a lot of trees surrounding you, that is the correct road to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm. Before you reach Saanen Dairy Goat Farm, you will see the Sri Mutiara Nasional Service Camp on your right, this means you are on the right track. Keep driving straight and eventually you will reach the Saanen Dairy Goat Farm. The road leading to Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is really a small and winding road.
The Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is not a big place, i take us around 15 minutes to finish walking that area to see the goat but if you want, you can spend some extra time feeding the goat with grass. The grass is provided free of charge but please be considerate and take only one per person.
After patting and feeding the goat, there is area provided for you to wash you hand. There are stall that is selling some light food like ice cream, drinks and pudding made from goat milk. The food, you will need to pay .. only the grass is free, haha !
Ice Cream and Pudding
Milk Ice Cream
Chocolate Milk Ice Cream
We won't say that Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is a worth place to visit considering the time taken to travel here and the need to drive on that small winding up hill road, but if you really love goat and would want to see how a real goat looks and sound like, Saanen Dairy Goat Farm is the place to visit. The environment is not very dirty (a clean farm standard), well maintain, it is suitable for the whole family to visit.
