It is seriously fascinating what Coffee can do to people ? It can make you stay wide awake at night, make you happy after a cup of nice coffee or even to boost up your energy to take on the day, haha ! Well what ever it is, Coffee does have some special Spell on us, haha ! Recently i have the chance to visit this little cafe here in Penang which is located at Jalan Bawasah in Georgetown, Penang.
Coffee Spell Cafe
Coffee Spell is a newly open cafe in Penang, not a big place but it is comfortable to dine in there. The decoration there is nice, it makes me feel like home and close to nature, haha .. the place is so properly decorated with most of the decoration there being done by the owner themselves ..
The strong point of this cafe, i would say is their food .. honestly, i love every plate of food that is serve here .. !
Curry Pasta RM 20.50
The Curry Pasta is something unique here, usually people will think of pasta the Italian way .. like Carbonara, Bolognese or Aglio E Olio but how about Curry ? Curry is so Malaysian and mixing it with Pasta is something special .. the Curry Pasta is a bit spicy, i like the curry taste and it is creamy not the watery curry type, it is a bit dry but it is tasty .. the entire plate of Curry Pasta is aromatic, i can smell the Curry even before eating it.
Dirty Aglio Olio RM 18.50
Dirty Aglio Olio is an idea from the Chef where it means, every ingredient put into the Aglio Olio is mixed up in a messy way and makes it look dirty before eating it, though it is serve in a well presented manner but you will have to mix it up and stir it to make it look dirty before eating it, haha ! The egg put on top of the Dirty Aglio Olio gets my attention, so far, i have never tried Aglio Olio with an egg in it, surprisingly, it taste awesome .. the egg taste good and it mix well with the Aglio Olio, it is not dry like how other Aglio Olio is, not too oily and yet creamy, i think probably because of the egg. Other ingredient like the Chicken Ham and Mushroom is well cooked and the Tomato is juicy !
Carbonara Chicken RM 18.50
This plate of Carbonara Chicken Burger is recommended to me by Coffee Spell and i must say, i highly recommend this to you all too .. this is like the must try Burger for me. Everything from the Carbonara Chicken Burger are home made. Even the meat is not the normal processed burger meat like what you find in other burger else where. The chicken meat they use are home made type and it is tasty, juicy and soft. There is a layer of cheese on top of the meat covering another layer of egg in between, this combination of tasty chicken meat + cheese + egg is tasty and that is not all .. this combination is mix with Carbonara sauce. Thinking of it now makes me drool .. i will definitely go back to Coffee Spell to try on this Carbonara Chicken Burger again ..
Chai Latte RM 12.50
Well, i must admit, this is the first time i am trying Chai Latte and i feel in love with this cup of Chai Latte instantly. When this cup of Chai Latte is first serve to me, i thought to myself 'the chef must have misplace his cigarette, haha !', silly me .... at a closer look, it is actually a stick of burned cinnamon. I dip the cinnamon into the Chai Latte and it give the Chai Latte a slightly burn taste, not too much, just good enough to make the cup of Chai Latte tasty. It is not too sweet and the biscuit that comes with it goes well with the Chai Latte. A good cup of Chai Latte !
Caramel Chocolate RM 10.50
Surprise, Surprise ! Coffee Spell Cafe also have their very own 3D Art Chocolate Drinks .. this little bear on top of the Hot Caramel Chocolate looks so cute, hmm, its a bear right ? well, it looks like a bear to me and it is cute, haha ! Love it .. this is the last thing i drink so that i can admire the cute bear longer, haha ! Aint it cute ? Ok, anyway .. i like this cup of Hot Caramel Chocolate, though it is a bit sweet, probably due to the Caramel, but i still like it ..
So if you are a fan of 3D Art Coffee or Chocolate Drinks, then you should come here to try out their Coffee or Chocolate drinks yourself ...
Stickies Cake
It would be a great way to end a meal with a plate of nice dessert so Coffee Spell offer a special dessert call the Stickies Cake. It is actually cake in small slices with a stick sticking into it so that you can either have it on the go or in the cafe itself.
If you would like to have this Stickies Cake in the cafe, they will serve it on a plate for you with a scoop of ice cream on it but if you would like to take-away, then they will put it in a cup for you with two scoop of ice cream in it. It only cost RM 10.50 for take-away and RM 8.50 for dine in. There are few different types of cake that you can choose from their counter and the one i choose is this lovely Cheese Cake. The Cheese flavor from the cake is very strong, this would be great if you are a Cheese Cake fan and there are a lot of small pieces of grind peanut and some dried blackcurrant put into this cup of Stickies Cake.
Other than these, Coffee Spell Cafe also serve many more different type of unique food, if you are into really spicy food maybe you can try their The Ripper Burger which only cost RM 28.50 but beware it is crazy spicy, haha ! There is even a note there on the menu to consult the waiter before order, haha ! If you like cold food then maybe you can try their Glasius Spell which is a Cold Pasta and it only cost RM 23.50. Their food serving portion here is really big so i think that the price is reasonable and since the food taste good, it is worth going back to dine at Coffee Spell again and again ..
