Malaysia Book Of Records Live ! 2019 | Extraordinary Malaysia @ Gurney Plaza, Penang

Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) need no further introduction, the name itself says it all. It is an official body that recognizes record holders, record breakers and record creators in Malaysia as the National Record Keeper upon their feats, achievements and creations. The main reason this project is conceived to foster the values of positivism and patriotism while contributing to the nation-building process. MBR also aims to inspire fellow Malaysians to exceed their limits and achieve extraordinary feats and ensuring that these record holders can be recognized and celebrated.


It was an honor and an opportunity for Penangites to witness extraordinary Malaysians challenging themselves to achieve great feats and attempting to break records as The Malaysia Book of Records launched (MBR Live!) 2019 | Extraordinary Malaysia on the 20th of September at Gurney Plaza, Penang and this event was held for three days from 20th until 22nd September 2019 as the second installation of the MBR Live ! roadshow, this is set to inspire more Malaysians to achieve great feats and surpass their limits.



Themed 'Extraordinary Malaysia', MBR Live! 2019 is being held for the first time in Penang and was officially launched by YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang. This live event served as a platform to inspire and promote the spirit of patriotism among Malaysians as they witness LIVE record breaking attempts, learn about extraordinary Malaysians and even attempt to become record breakers themselves. 



The very first MBR Live! Roadshow which was held at Klang Valley last year and it was a resounding success and MBR Live! has become an ideal platform for Malaysians to showcase their talents, encouraging and inspiring Malaysians to take the challenge and achieve greater heights each year.





During the opening, record holder Jessica Loo were there to perform and to wow the crowd who attended the opening at Gurney Plaza, Penang. Jessica Loo who is a record holder for First to Play Violin while Paragliding has make her mark in the Malaysia Book Of Records with her extraordinary act.


Over the three day event, the MBR Live! 2019 will see 45 records being showcased, 39 live record breaking attempts and 7 engaging, fun-filled record titles open for public participation. Penangites will be able to witness Malaysians challenging each other for the 39 record titles in real time which include 'First Coffenaited Painting using Starbucks Coffee as Paint', 'Most Number of Fire Torches Eaten in 60 seconds', 'Fastest to Escape from Water Torture Cell' and 'Most Number of Reverse Palm Push Ups in 1 Minute'.




LIVE on going record braking where also being held during the three days event where crowd can also participate in the Longest Non Stop Haircuts Relay By A Group in contributing to the record making by getting a hair cut there during the event or choose to cheer on the Longest Non Stop Team Relay on Treadmill by team of four. These LIVE record breaking event is great to motivate more Malaysian to push their limit in breaking more records.








Other than those on going record making, there are also some showcase of record which is already being achieved and award giving ceremony for those who already make their mark in the Malaysia Book Of Record for various category. It is also awesome to know that the B. Duck which is currently in Penang is one of the Biggest B. Duck and The Largest B. Duck Event in Malaysia.



Additionally, to make the event even more interesting and interactive, seven fun filled record titles will be open for public engagement and participation during MBR Live! 2019. They are Fastest time to spell A-Z backwards, Most number of sushi eaten without use of hands, Longest time skipping rope, Fastest coin stack, Fastest time to build a 15 cup stack, Longest time 'Plank' position and Fastest time to drink a bottle of soft drink. Participants who take part in these exciting record titles which are open to the public will be awarded a certificate of participation. Visitors were welcome to discover this unique approach in celebrating Merdeka and Malaysia Day through a live record breaking event from 20 to 22 September 2019, 10.00 am until 10.00 pm at Gurney Plaza, Penang.
