AyamBersamaMu Community Pantry Initiative Goes Viral in Kedah

This year, everyone is celebrating Hari Raya in a very different way, adapting to the new normal of year 2020 ! Even though the Hari Raya celebrations have been muted this year due to the Covid19 pandemic and the recovery movement control order (RMCO), Malaysian kindness has made a difference to those struggling with basic necessities through the #AyamBersamaMu community pantry initiative in 13 communities made possible by Ayam Brand Malaysia.

Pusat Jagaan Insan Kesayanganku which is located in Kedah, partners with Ayam Brand to manage the community pantry that operates on a 'Take what you need, leave what you can' concept. The weatherproof pantry is stocked with daily necessities such as Ayam Brand products. It is set up outside the compound so that social distancing is observed and is open to the public round-the-clock, which mean when every you need some things, you may take it from the pantry at any time.

In keeping people inform about the update on the items in the pantry, staff and residents update the community groups on social media and messaging apps, on what is available, and what is needed in the pantry. This efforts have made the initiative gone viral.

To show appreciation, volunteers are returning this kindness by preparing home cooked open house meals using Ayam Brand™ products. The meals spanned from traditional favourites such as Roti Jala with sardine curry to macaroni fruit salad which is very appetizing !

Pusat Jagaan Insan Kesayanganku has done so much to help the people, Rozita Binti Hasan contributed by sincerely prepare them an open house meal to give them the best using Ayam Brand coconut milk which made preparation much easier an the kids loved the Nasi Minyak, Gulai Daging Kentang and Acar Timun Nanas.

The buzz around the AyamBersamaMu community pantry has introduced Pusat Jagaan Insan Kesayanganku to more people in the district resulting in a steady flow of contributions to the pantry, and to the children in the home with many has contributed to this initiative in conjunction with the #KitaJagaKita spirit.

To date more than 5,000 Ayam Brand products have been taken from the pantries nationwide, and thousands of other items have been contributed by individuals, companies and NGOs to help those who are struggling. The AyamBersamaMu community pantry is becoming self sustaining with many requests to start similar programs in other locations.

Through Ayam Brand™ long running Corporate Social Responsibility programmes Ayam Brand™ has contributed more than 2 million healthy meals for charity, providing nutritious food to more than 22,500 people from 538 charity organisations and NGOs over the past 13 years.
