Kanada-Ya @ Central at Gurney, Persiaran Gurney, Penang

Recently saw a lot of people post about this newly open Japanese Ramen restaurant at Central@Gurney, so i decided to head on over to give it a try. Kanada-Ya is said to be No.1 London Truffle Ramen is now open directly below G Hotel Gurney. Ever since the completion of the newly renovated G Hotel Gurney with the opening of Central@Gurney, there has been a lot of newly open restaurant, Kanada-Ya is one of it.

Environment here is nice and that location is good for anyone who is looking for something to eat after a long day of shopping at Gurney Plaza Mall. If you are a tourist here staying at G Hotel Gurney, you can reach Kanada-Ya easily by walking downstairs from your hotel room. Service here is good too and the place is not very big. The place was full during my visit and i have to wait for a while before i get a seating place but its all good.

Tonkotsu Mix Ramen (Regular) RM 36.90

In terms of food, the taste of the ramen that i tried is not as good as it looks. The one that i tried is their Tonkotsu Mix Ramen which is serve with 3 very thin slices of chashu belly, wood ear fungus, spring onion, hanjuku egg and 2 piece of nori. The broth is salty and the ramen noodles is not soft enough. I personally would prefer to have a softer ramen noodles, maybe cooking it another 1 minutes would be better ? The chashu belly is too thin in my opinion, they can serve it in thin slice but it would be good to give more than 3, maybe ? While for the broth, i find it salty, maybe it is just me ?

Green Tea (Hot) RM 5.00

I feel that the food price here is expensive, RM 36.90 for a regular size of Tonkotsu Mix Ramen is expensive and the hot glass of green tea is RM 5.00 per glass. Thought it is refillable, the taste of the green tea become bland after the first refill because they are using sachet for the tea.
