Mercure Hotel Penang Beach @ Tanjung Bungah, Penang

As Penang is a tourist attraction spot, there are a lot of tourist coming in to Penang almost every week. This makes Hotel, Homestay or Apartment stay a good business in Penang, well, it depends if your service, hygiene and facility is good. While for tourist, with this many hotel available in Penang, it is really hard to make up or mind on which is the best place to stay during our holiday or vacation in Penang. Well, this lead to the questions of what you wish to do and where to visit ? So to add another hotel to my list of place to stay in Penang, i went over to Mercure Hotel Penang Beach to check out their rooms.



With only 5 storey tall, Mercure Hotels Penang Beach has some decent amount of rooms to accommodate their guests. Located at Tanjung Bungah, Mercure Hotel has a sea view with private beach directly behind it. So going to the beach from Mercure Hotel is easy.




The environment here is nice and comfortable, in terms of size, Mercure Hotel Penang is not a very big hotel but it has its own swimming pool and restaurant. The room that i take does not include breakfast, so i did not get the chance to try out their breakfast at their restaurant.




The room that i take during my stay here is Superior Ocean View with King Bed which cost a total of RM 772.52 for two night. For me, i personally think that the price is expensive but that is almost the average hotel price for hotel around Tanjung Bungah area. This is not the cheapest hotel i can find on those hotel booking platform but this is the one that actually suit my needs.





The room is specious and clean but the air condition take some times to become cold. The room i had has a big windows with a view of the beach which is nice because i get to see the beach the moment i wakes up in the morning. Sound proof is not very good as i can hear children laughing and running around outside my room. The room has a clean private bathroom which i like because the provide unlimited clean drinking water which i can get directly from one of the special tab inside the bath room.





The toilet comes with a complete set of toiletries and clean towel. The shower is nice to use and shampoo, body wash and conditioner is provided as well. Other than what is available inside the toilet, the room also comes with a ironing board, safe, mini bar and hair dryer.



For those who booked a room without breakfast included, just like me, there are some coffee and tea available inside the room with a kettle provided so that we can make our own coffee or tea in the room itself. Mercure Hotel has very limited car parking space, during my visit, i have to park at the other building next to it which is Tanjung Point. There i can get my parking tickets punched at the Mercure Hotel reception so that i only need to pay RM 3.00 flat rate. During check in, the Mercure Hotel will ask for a RM 100.00 deposit which is returnable and a RM 3.00 Penang Heritage fee which is not returnable. 

One thing that i don't understand is, i make this room booking via Agoda and there is a text box where guest can ask for special request on the room. I am actually curious, do hotel read that special request ? Because Mercure Hotel Penang does not respond to my request so i am left hanging not knowing if it is possible for them to fulfilled it or not ? I think, it is good that hotel let guest know if their special request is able to be done or not, at least guest don't have to guess, hope, wish and pray that the request is being fulfilled.
