Penang Run 2019 @ Esplanade, Penang

By : Chha

I have heard of Penang Run for many years but never really take the effort to train and participate in the run until recently. Penang Run 2019 starting and ending point for all category is at Esplanade, Penang. To be exact, it is in front of MBPP Town Hall along Jalan Padang Kota Lama.

There are 4 category available, which is the 32km, 21km, 10km and a 4km fun run. As usual, i took part in the 21km competitive run. For 21km run, every finisher is entitled for a Finisher T-Shirt and a Medal. The size of medal is the same for all category but the colour is different.

It is kinda rare to have the 32km category, usually other marathon will have the 42km but instead Penang Run do it differently. If you are someone who is interested to try running a Full Marathon, joining the 32km at Penang Run as a trial run before going Full would be a good thing to do.

Overall, the Penang Run event is just average. They don't offer a lot of food or drinks after the run, i only receive one small bottle of water and a bread at the finish line. The water station along the route is some distance apart, so you will have to plan your run properly to avoid dehydration during the run. The route is good as it is my first time running this route, i find it kinda interesting.
