A Time To Give Charity Event at G Hotel Gurney Spreads Christmas Cheer to Children of Salvation Army Penang Children's Home

The annual tradition of the season of giving has returned once more to G Hotel and this time it is been held in the revamped G Hotel Gurney. This tradition that merges the spirit of love, giving, sharing and celebration comes together with a resplendent Christmas indulgence and gifts for a total of 20 children from Salvation Army Penang Children's Home. The "A Time to Give" corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative which began in 2008 has consistently brought smiles to children's faces benefiting various homes and NGOs over the years. It is really nice to see G Hotel taking the error in giving back to society and in making these children smile in happiness.

Salvation Army Penang Children's Home, offering both residential and day care services, plays a crucial role in helping children overcome past traumas. A well rounded mix of educational and recreational activities is designed to build confidence and equip young minds for the future.

To make the event even more special, the children from the Salvation Army Home provided G Hotel Gurney with a Wishlist, each wish meticulously written on individual wish cards. These wish cards, featuring the name, age, gender, and specific wishes of each children, adorned the Christmas tree at G Hotel Gurney's concierge floor.

From November 28 to December 15 of year 2023, the public had the opportunity to select a wish card of their choice and purchase gifts for the children base on what is written on the wish card. Each children had two wishes, often revolving around basic necessities like stationery and shoes. Graciously, G Hotel added a third and a fourth wish to the list which including storybooks and toys, to ensure that the children experienced some fun during the festive season. This year with the additional gift cards, a total of 80 gifts were distributed to the children.

On December 21, 2023, the children of the Salvation Army were invited to G Hotel Gurney to receive and unwrap their presents. The festive celebration took place in G Spot, G Hotel Gurney, where both staff and guests, including members of the media who contributed to the program, joined the children. Mr. Michael Hanratty, the General Manager of G Hotel, officiated the event with a warm welcome speech, followed by a delightful Christmas dance and carolling performance by the children.

Witnessing the joyous unwrapping of presents, the children's faces lit up like Christmas lights, grateful that their wishes had come true. To add an extra touch of holiday magic, Santa Claus and santarinas made a surprise appearance, delighting the children with festive goodies. The festivities continued as the children enjoyed a merry meal, including snack platters and Christmas cookies at G Spot.

Becky Lurence, Home Manager of The Salvation Army Penang Children's Home, expressed gratitude, saying, "I feel very thankful that the less fortunate children are still loved and cared for by society". "A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the donors and everyone who played a pivotal role in making the wishes of 20 children come true. We are delighted and proud to contribute something back to society. Your contributions have not only brought smiles but also created a sense of joy and hope for each children. Bringing joy and hope is our goal for each children" said Michael Hanratty, General Manager of G Hotel.

"A Time to Give" Charity Event has once again successfully touched the hearts of the public, encouraging them to give back to the community, especially during this festive season, reassuring the less fortunate that they are not forgotten by society.
