[Thailand 9D8N] Day 2 : Bangkok - PB Valley Khao Yai Winery - The Bloom Khao Yai - Pak Chong Night Bazaar

By : Chha

Waking up early in the morning is so hard for me, haha ! But i have to as today i will be traveling to Khao Yai or the land of sun flower i would call it, haha ! Well, that is the main reason why i choose to go there though, it is for their field of sun flower, well at least that is what i see when i google for photos of Khao Yai, haha !

Breakfast

The first thing i drink is the meiji milk that i bought from 7-Eleven on my way back to hostel last night. This Meiji milk taste good, can try !

Meiji Milk 45.50 baht

I wanted to look for some local food for breakfast and found this hawker stall by the road side near to Fun Wan Hostel which is the hostel i stay in. The hawker stall is just few meters walk away from Fun Wan Hostel.

Pork Rice 60.00 baht

Congee 50.00 baht

Cold Plain Water

Actually, i feel that even though it is a hawker stall by the road side, the price of the food is not very cheap, it is reasonable for the size of the food and the taste is tasty, one plate is just not enough for me, i have to go for two, hahaha ! My breakfast was really heavy, hope this will be more than enough to bring me through the un-plan un-foreseen day ahead as a backpacker, hahaha !

Khao Yai

Khao Yai is recognize as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also Thailand’s third largest and one of the most visited national parks. It spreads across four provinces, namely Saraburi (west), Nakhon Nayok (east), Nakhon Ratchasima (north) and Prachinburi (east). The highest peak at Khao Rom is 1351 metres above sea level. Blessed with a lush, mountainous landscape, with fertile valleys, pounding waterfalls and rich biodiversity, Khao Yai is a year round getaway destination just three hours drive from Bangkok. The west side boasts a range of wild-west theme parks and vineyards of Thailand’s award-winning labels such as Pirom Khao Yai Reserve and Sawasdee Chenin Blanc. The south and east are peppered with a wealth of natural wonders ranging from Prachinburi’s jungle-clad waterfalls to Wang Nam Kheo’s ozone-rich valleys (Source).

Getting To Khao Yai :

Distance from Bangkok to Khao Yai is 3 hours drive, so there is no way you are going to walk or run there, haha ! There is two ways you can get to Khao Yai.

Option 1 :

You can get minivans service at the Mo Chit Bus Station (Southern Bus Terminal) Bangkok to Pak Chong, Khao Yai. These minivans used to operate from Victory monument to Pak Chong but the operating company moved to Mo Chit Bus Station as of October 2016. Here is how to get to Mo Chit Bus Station :
  • Take BTS to Mo Chit BTS Station, Exit 3.
  • Once you exit the BTS Station you will see a but stop by the road side.
  • Wait for bus no 77 to get to the Mo Chit (North) Bus Station.
  • This bus no 77 will bring you directly to Mo Chit (North) Bus Station and it cost 9 baht per person.
  • Pay for tickets when you are on the bus.
  • At Mo Chit (North) Bus Station, you can look for minivan to go to Khao Yai.
Option 2 :

Drive by yourself or hire a driver for Khao Yai trip. I highly recommend this option because getting public transport at Khao Yai is very hard or should i say i don't see any public transport at all during my visit. One place of interest to another place of interest at Khao Yai is far apart from each other so it is really advisable if you have your own transport there or you hire a driver to drive you around. Taking a one day or two days trip tour to Khao Yai is a good idea too. So if you are into driving by yourself to get more freedom on your itinerary and your own sweet time in traveling, there is this company for renting a car which i highly recommend. Thai Rent A Car you can view there link for more information or to make booking.

I love walking through the field of flowers at The Bloom, it is soothing, calm and nice to visit.

There is also a mini sheep farm here at The Bloom.

If you are someone who love flowers and nature, then The Bloom by TV Pool is a nice place to visit for some soothing evening walk after a tiring day running around Khao Yai, haha ! After whole day of seeing flowers and visiting vineyard, i decide to go find a place to stay for the night before going out for dinner as the sky is getting dark. The place that i stay for tonight is at Lake View Camp Site, yes ! you read it right, it is a camp site, hahaha ! Interested ? Click on the link to view more info regarding my stay for the night.

Pak Chong Night Bazaar

After i found a suitable place to stay, i went straight for dinner but i did not go to any restaurant or cafe, i only went to the Pak Chong Night Bazaar or should i say, the local night market at Pak Chong to look for some local street food to eat.

What i understand from the owner of the Lake View Camp Site, that this night market is open daily. Every night the street will be crowded with vendors and their carts offering delicious snacks, barbecue on the go, gorgeous desserts and all kind of meals to eat on the go or sited. Pakchong was originally a market town and it worth a visit to experience all kind of great food.

Bihun Soup 40.00 baht

Fried Chai Kuih 20.00 baht

If you are into come crazy insane food, they have it here in Pak Chong Night Bazaar too, example like worm or grasshopper, haha !
