From what i can see, most of the Restaurant and Cafe at Icon City serve either Western Food, BBQ or Steamboat, well at least now i found one that actually serve Rice ! haha .. !
This is great because as a Rice-holic, i need rice at least once a day, haha ! Thonglor is a Thai Restaurant which is located at Icon City, Bukit Mertajam, Penang.
Thonglor is a nice place to dine in even during lunch time where the sun is hot out there Thonglor is kept cold with their air conditioning. The setting inside is comfortable and with many tables to fit a lot of people.
Thai Style Fried Rice | Khao Phad
Chicken RM 10.00, Pork RM 11.00, Beef/Fish RM 12.00, Seafood RM 15.00
At first when this plate of Thai Style Fried Rice is serve, it looks kinda plain and average to me. The colour is not attractive and the way how they present the food is just normal with two cucumber at the side, but, the smell of the fried rice is very aromatic, i can even smell it from far. My first impression on the Thai Style Fried Rice was wrong ! On the first bite itself, i instantly fall in love with it .. as i dig further into the fried rice, there is actually a lot chicken meat in small pieces. The taste is good and it taste a little bit buttery, feels like as if they are not using local rice. It is well cooked, not to try, not to wet .. perfect ! Two thumbs up from me .. !
Green Curry Chicken RM 9.90
Thonglor's Green Curry Chicken is also another very satisfying dish to try. Their Green Curry Chicken is not very creamy, feels like there is not much coconut milk being put into it but the taste of the Green Curry is very distinguish, it is not very spicy and it goes really well with the rice and egg at the side.
Thai Green Tea
Hot RM 3.50, Cold RM 4.90, Jug RM 25.00
Wait ! what ? This Thai Green Tea is also available in Jug ? The person who order the Jug Thai Green Tea must be a really hard core fans of Green Tea, haha ! This cup of Thai Green Tea is soothing, not too sweet and the amount of Green Tea taste is just nice as i am the type of person who don't like really strong green tea taste in my drinks, haha .. so this cup of Thai Green Tea is perfect for me, like it !
