Forest Canteen or also known as Moon Shop is located in the same building at Penang Bowl. It was kinda confusing for me at first when i try to look for Forest Canteen which lead all the way to Penang Bowl, even so, i still can't find any sign board stating Forest Canteen but instead i only see Moon Shop. So let me clarify, Forest Canteen is actually Moon Shop which is located in Penang Bowl. If you want to look for Forest Canteen, then just go over to Moon Shop in Penang Bowl, easy right ? This is exactly the purpose of my blog, to make things easy for you, haha !
Moon Shop Gallery is a plant design laboratory specialized in tropical ornamental plants forest. The team collect the abundance jungle species in the region and incorporated into art which shows an elegant combination of botany and aesthetics that enlighten the living environment. With their signature products, Forest in a bottle and Moon Forest bring us to explore the natural circulation of the rainforest ecosystem. As a design laboratory, they not only focusing on experimenting the possibilities of arts and botany, but also conduct their research into an education workshop to share their knowledge to the public. So that is why when you visit Forest Canteen, you will see a lot of beautifully design plants here.
But i am not there for plants, i am there for their food. First of all, this place was full during my visit. Now here is the thing, i made reservation for a table at 12.30 pm but when i reach there, they said that my reservation was not recorded though it was clearly confirmed via our facebook conversation. So, they told me to wait and i waited until 1.45 pm before i can get a seating place. So, don't bother making reservation in advance with them, just plan more buffer time and walk in to wait for a seating place.
Environment here is really nice, with green trees all around, it is calm and soothing, but the place is small making it kinda crowded with only limited seating place available.
Service is good and food serving is fast too. Food serve here gives you a sense of home, where the food comes in set of Rice, Eggs and Soup, those typical sides that you can find in any local home in Penang. This is what makes dining here interesting, in terms of food taste, i would say it is just average but its combination is perfectly paired.

Macadamia Nuts Chocolate Chiffon Roll and Softserve Ice Cream here taste good. A perfect dessert to end a meal. The Macadamia Nuts in the Chocolate Chiffon Roll is grind into small pieces, you can still munch on it but it does not tired your jaws type, which is nice and the Softserve is not very sweet, just nice. Their Honey Cascara is refreshing too. Food serving portion here is small i would say.
