When talk about visiting Melaka, there are few types of food which is a must try and one of the food is Satay Celup. There are a lot of restaurant in Melaka that serve Satay Celup but then i decided to head over to McQuek's Satay Celup which is located along Jalan Parameswara, Bandar Hilir, Melaka.
Finding parking here is a hassle because McQuek's Satay Celup is located along a busy street with very less parking space.
McQuek's Satay Celup is not a big place but have enough of comfortable seating place. During my visit, there are not many people there so i manage to get seating place easily without having to wait. Eating satay celup, the environment can get pretty hot because of the boiling satay kuah but at McQuek's Satay Celup, the place is not a fully covered place making it able to ventilate the hot air out, so dining in here is comfortable.
Just in case any of you don't know what Satay Celup is, it is something like a hotpot or maybe a Lok Lok as what Penang people call it where you get the ingredient you want and dip it into the hot boiling sauce to cook it, the only different about Satay Celup compare to hotpot is, the boiling sauce or water is actually Satay Sauce. At McQuek's Satay Celup diners have the option to choose whether to have a recycled satay sauce or a new pot of satay sauce. The meaning of recycle here means to reuse the left over satay sauce from the previous customer. Don't worry, the satay sauce has been carefully clean and handled to make sure that it is safe and clean to be reuse for the next customer. But if you are uncomfortable to eat using the recycle satay sauce, you can always choose to have a new pot of Satay Sauce but this will have an additional charge of RM 26.90 per pot which is enough for up to 6 person sharing.
Service here is good, the moment i walk into McQuek's Satay Celup, there is already someone who approach me to serve me. There is one lady there who is really friendly, who always attend to my request.
Once you found a seating place and have the satay sauce at your table then you can start to take any ingredient that you want. The price of the ingredient depends on what you take and the quantity that you take. The price for each item is indicated at the stick with colour code.
Dip the ingredient into the Satay Sauce to cook it. Once it is cook, you can enjoy the food !! The Satay Sauce taste good while for the ingredient, they are just normal, but it is really nice to mix the ingredient together with Satay Sauce. For me, this is a satisfying meal. Total spending for me here at McQuek's Satay Celup is RM 74.70 for two person.
