The MICHELIN Guide deploys in Malaysia a new approach in announcing its latest restaurant revelations, by releasing some of its new additions to the Guide ahead of the annual reveal ceremony. These releases, motivated by the discoveries made by the famously anonymous inspectors of the Guide on the field, lead to greater opportunities to highlight the amazing dynamism of the Malaysian restaurant industry, and to highlight and support new restaurants regularly.
The announcement will be done through the year, with its first one scheduled for June 2023. These releases will be featured on both MICHELIN Guide’s official website and mobile app (iOS and Android) . Those establishments, considered as inspectors’ “crushes”, will be highlighted with a “New” symbol, for easy identification by gourmets browsing on the Guide’s digital platforms.
The whole selection of the MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2024, and all the distinctions and Special Awards will be unveiled exclusively at the upcoming MICHELIN Guide Ceremony.
All the restaurants part of the 2024 selection will be assessed by independent and anonymous inspectors, following the historical and universal methodology of the MICHELIN Guide, based on five criteria, all focused on the plate:
1. Quality of the ingredients
2. Mastery of cooking techniques
3. Harmony of the flavours
4. Expression of the chef’s personality in the cuisine
5. Consistency, both over time and across the entire menu.
“Our inspectors couldn’t wait to reveal some of their latest discoveries to gourmets and travellers, as they’re experiencing a very exciting culinary scene in both Kuala Lumpur and Penang”, said Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide. “We hope that these regular revelations and updates continue to create excitement and provide opportunities for Malaysian gourmets to continue supporting this profession, and we invite everyone to discover the restaurants around them”, she added.
