The launch event on 6 July 2025 was an unforgettable evening filled with cultural vibrance. It brought together corporate partners, business leaders, government representatives and the media, all coming together to honor the heart and soul of Penang’s diverse heritage. The festivities kicked off with a mesmerizing Nyonya dance performed by the Sayang-Sayang Nyonya Dancers, followed by dynamic Malay traditional dances by Pentas Tari Penang. These performances celebrated Penang’s multicultural tapestry, seamlessly blending old traditions with contemporary expressions and offering a true taste of what Penang represents.

There are also artisan market that empower local artisans and crafting heritage. Every weekend in July, Gurney Bay Hotel invites guests to explore the Artisan Market in the hotel’s lobby, from 12.00 pm to 8.00 pm. In partnership with the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC), this market showcases handcrafted goods, traditional items and locally made products. The market emphasizes supporting women entrepreneurs while helping preserve Penang’s cultural crafts for future generations.

Every Saturday throughout July, guests can also enjoy a series of cultural activities designed to foster hands on learning and promote engagement with the island’s traditions. From beaded shoe workshops on 12 July to traditional Cherki and Congkak game competitions on 19 and 26 July, these events are all about reviving local heritage and bringing it back into the lives of both locals and visitors.
