De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan @ The Linc KL, Kuala Lumpur

By : Chha

Chef Wan, a very famous name in culinary, food and beverages in Malaysia. Almost everyone will know Chef Wan as the very famous Chef in Malaysia. Chef Wan has his very own restaurant, mostly located in Kuala Lumpur. De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is the name of the restaurant. There are a few outlet around Kuala Lumpur and the one i went to is located inside of The Linc KL.

De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is a very high class restaurant. The moment you step into the restaurant, you will see the different in terms of classic decoration, beautiful interior design and their very good service. I really like how they design and decorate the entire restaurant. The environment here is really nice and comfortable. Every little details is being taken care of, from the design of their menu up until their very own thank you note at the end of their patron's meal is properly crafted. The staff here knows their food very well and is able to explain what each item on the menu is.

Ayam Kapitan RM 48.00

In terms of food, De.Wan restaurant serve all the best food. All the food i tried here is by far the best food i have tasted. Two thumbs up for Chef Wan and his team. The food serve here is tasty and in very big serving portion. I ordered 3 dish to go with rice and i can't even finish them all. During my visit, i tried their Ayam Kapitan which is an aromatic chicken curry dish, cooked with a unique mixture of local herbs and spices. The perfect amalgamation of our multicultural Malaysian roots. The texture of the curry is so smooth and aromatic. The chicken meat is soft and nice to eat. The curry is creamy but does not have that strong coconut milk taste which is something that i like. It is not spicy. A very tasty bowl of Ayam Kapitan.

Terung Sambal Udang RM 36.00

I love every single plate of dish that i order here at De.Wan. The next dish that i tried is their Terung Sambal Udang which is a creamy eggplant lightly stir fried in Chef Wan's special sambal paste, this is fragrant, flavourful and an absolute delight for your tastebuds. The plate of Terung is a bit spicy due to the Sambal which is used in it. They are really generous with the ingredient they use in cooking every dish. In this plate of Terung Sambal Udang, the prawn put in it is very big in size and tasty too. The taste is a bit salty making it perfect to go with some rice.

One of the must have dish here in De.Wan Restaurant is their crazy big size Cucur Udang dish. I was not expecting the Cucur Udang to be so crazy big size, i was shock when i see it but it was so satisfying to have that much being serve to me. The taste .. Tasty ! A truly must have dish here at De.Wan.

Cucur Udang RM 36.00

The Cucur Udang is made from fresh tiger prawns, dried shrimps, bean sprouts and chives, deep fried to crispy perfection. Perfect when dipped into their special peanut sauce. The tiger prawns are serve in big pieces not those chopped into small pieces type. The entire piece of Cucur Udang is very crunchy, it is nice just to munch on it. I can feel that all the ingredient use here is authentic and taste good.

I must say that even their rice itself taste good. You can even eat it on its own. There are three types of rice available here at De.Wan but i only choose two which are the Nasi Pandan Delima and Nasi Telur Terengganu, the rice is not oily making feel healthy to eat.

Nasi Pandan Delima | Nasi Telur Terengganu RM 8 per person

Nangka Madu Custard RM 19.00

When i see the name Madu Custard from the menu, the first thing that comes to my mind was that normal Custard dessert that i used to have elsewhere but i was wrong ! The Nangka Madu Custard here is tasty and it does not give you the feeling of having Custard at all. The Nangka fruits taste so authentic, it is probably made from the real Nangka fruits instead of just process type, i think. The Nangka Madu Custard is an absolute house favourite, this sweet honey jackfruit pudding is made fresh every morning, topped with fresh jackfruit and caramelized sugar. The sweetness of this dessert is just right, not too much. Perfect for an after meal !

Fruity Sangria RM 16.00

This refreshing cup of Fruity Sangria is a mix of pomegranate, mango, lime and orange juice, fused with non alcoholic sangria.

Its is really nice to receive a specially design thank you card after i made my payment for my meal here in De.Wan. It shows that they appreciate their customers and at the same time prioritize on making good food to make their customers dining experience a wonderful and memorable one.

Being a Michelin awarded restaurant. De.Wan restaurant is must try restaurant. Not only will i try it but i will definitely come back for more food in future, maybe to try out other De.Wan outlet. In terms of price, it is a little expensive but it is all worth it considering the good service, big serving portion, nice environment and tasty food. It is worth every single cent paid.
