Jay Coffee Town @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang

By : Chha

Jay at Jay drinking coffee ? haha ! It is funny when you walk into a cafe and tell the waiter, hi, i am Jay, while the cafe itself is Jay and i wonder, is the owner's name Jay as well ? hahaha ! Anyway, it is the name that interest me to go and try out the food here in this cafe.

Environment here is really nice, i like it a lot, it is really comfortable dining in here and the decoration is nice and soothing.

One thing that i don't like is their food serving speed. The waiter and waitress there are good at their service but i need to wait really long for my food to come. There are not many people inside Jay Coffee Town during my visit. With the number of people inside Jay Coffee Town, i expect maybe around 15 minutes for my first food to be serve but no .. they took much longer than that .. i wait until i am starving. After my first plate of food is serve, i need to wait for the second one to come. I finish eating my first plate then need to wait for around 10 to 15 minutes for my second plate to come. It is too long .. but i still give thumbs up to their service. The waitress apologize for the long wait and attend to me promptly.

Grilled Chicken Chop Mushroom RM 15.90

Grilled Chicken Chop Mushroom taste good and the Chicken is tasty. The Salad and the fries is tasty as well.

Thai Fried Chicken Chop RM 17.90

The sauce to this Thai Fried Chicken Chop is tasty and the mango that comes with it is really tasty but i don't like the Chicken Chop. The outer layer is thick and crunchy which is good but the Chicken is not that tasty.

Jay Latte (Hot) RM 9.90

Drinks here is good, not too sweet and not too bitter, just enough to keep me awake whole night, haha !

Jade Monster RM 10.90

If you ask me, out of these two cup of drinks which is my favorite ? I would say, i like both. The Jade Monster drink may look weird in blue colour but the taste is just normal, nothing funky or weird. If you have extra free time to spare and would love to hang out with friends, Jay Coffee Town would be nice but if you are in a rush then it is really not recommended to come here.

Cendol | NearBy | Safira Country Club @ Seberang Jaya, Penang

By : Chha

Ok, now this is a little bit tricky .. ! How can i put this ? I listen from friends saying that there is this Cendol Hawker Stall nearby which is tasty, a lot of my Malay friend recommend this stall. I decided to go and have a try.

This stall has no name, no shop and nothing .. just a van by the road side with few tables and chair. This place is not hard to find actually but it is hard for me to describe where it is. If you know where Safira Country Club Seberang Jaya is, then it will be easy for you to find this place, if not, then find Safira Country Club Seberang Jaya first, then refer to the map below.

Cendol Pulut RM 3.00

This stall is selling Cendol Pulut. You can customize your own bowl of Cendol by telling the owner what you want and what you don't want. Well for me, i eat basically anything, haha ! So i just order the normal Cendol Pulut. The size is small and the pulut is a bit hard, other than that, the taste is fine. It is HALAL for sure.

Loaf U Breakfast And Too Much @ Lebuh Melayu, Penang

By : Chha

Loaf U And Too Much ? It sound like 'Love You Too Much' to me, haha ! Selling special toast and coffee this place is pack with people during my visit.

The place look simple in an old setting shop and i don't really understand why they don't have their own shop sign board place outside of their coffee shop ? I pass by this place few times while searching for Loaf U and Too Much but didn't know that this shop here is actually the one. So, to make things easy for you, here is how the coffee shop looks like from outside.

It is located along Lebuh Melayu in Georgetown Penang.

I waited quite long for my food to come as there are many people already in queue waiting for their food too.

Egg And Cheese RM 4.00
(Egg, Cheese, Lettuce)

The bread arrive at my table a little bit soft and not as crunchy as i expect a toasted bread to be, anyway, the taste of the bread is still good. It is like a two slice toasted bread sandwich with egg and cheese in between. The egg yolk is still dripping out from the bread onto the plate, haha !

Crab Stick And Tuna RM 6.00
(Crab Stick, Tuna, Egg, Seaweed, Lettuce)

I am not really a fans of Tuna but i still can accept this Crab Stick And Tuna bread. The taste of the Tuna in this one is not strong and it is overwhelm by the Crab Stick taste.

Smoked Salmon RM 7.00
(Salmon, Seaweed, Egg, Lettuce)

Smoked Salmon ? Wait ! Did i eat too fast when eating this ? How come i don't recall there is any salmon inside this ? All i remember is just bread, egg and seaweed, haha !

Overall, i feel the food here is special but the taste is just ordinary for me. It is special in a way where there are many different choice of ingredient that you can choose to eat with the bread. There are also other ingredient like Nutella, Mashmallow, Turkey Ham and much more from their menu. If the egg and cheese is not enough for you, you can always add on RM 1.00 each to get more cheese or egg.

Signature Roasted Coffee RM 4.00

Of all, i like their Signature Roasted Coffee the most, the taste is thick enough, not too bitter and taste good. Take away for hot drinks will be charge additional RM 0.20.

GODIVA | Belgium 1926 @ Gurney Paragon, Penang

By : Chha

Godiva Ice Cream actually comes from the Godiva Chocolate. Godiva Chocolate is a manufacturer of premium fine chocolates and related products. Godiva was founded in Belgium in 1926. Being famous in Belgium, Godiva is also a premium fine chocolate here in Malaysia. I remember my trip to Belgium last time, i tried some of the chocolate there in Belgium and they are really tasty, not only Godiva but any chocolate in Belgium is really tasty. The taste is different from those found in Malaysia. No wonder those important chocolate are so expensive.

Godiva Ice Cream in Malaysia is worth trying. I really love their Ice Cream. Godiva Ice Cream is available in 3 flavors which is the Dark Chocolate, Chocolate Twist and Vanilla White Chocolate. It only cost RM 22.25 each.

[2D1N] Genting Highland @ Pahang, Malaysia

By : Chha

Genting Highlands or also known as Resorts World Genting, is a hill resort in Malaysia developed by Genting Group. In Malaysia, Genting Highland does not need any further introduction. I am confident to say that, every Malaysian knows about Genting Highland. It is also the only place in Malaysia that is running a huge Casino legally, so if any of you are interested to try your luck, you can always visit Genting Highland. Other than Casino, Genting Highland also have indoor and outdoor theme park. As of now, their Outdoor theme park is still under construction.

Getting There :

There are many ways in getting to Genting Highland but the easiest way for me is by taking bus since i am traveling from north Malaysia. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours of drive. For me, i get my bus tickets from Sin Pen Travel.

The bus is comfortable and the driver is friendly too. Like their service and they do help to make booking for hotels in Genting Highland too. I get my hotel room at First World Resort from Sin Pen Travel too. Well, getting the hotel room from a travel agent is slightly more expensive compare to making booking yourself but with the help from the travel agent, i save all the trouble of making the booking myself, i just pay and then go travel, haha ! Hassle free .. (^.^)

The room i get at First World Resort Genting Highland is a standard two single bed room. This room is the standard room at First World Resort. The room is small but good enough for a night stay. Most of the people won't be spending much time inside hotel room when visiting Genting Highland, some might not even need the room as the Casino is open 24 hours, haha !

Kai Shi Hor Fun Soup RM 21.00

Sui Kaw Noodle Soup RM 21.00

Getting food at Genting Highland is not hard too, there are a lot of restaurant and food courts available at Genting Highland. The noodles that i ate is at Hou Mei Noodle House. Hou Mei have been in Genting Highland for many years and is still operating until now. You can also take your meal at the newly open Sky Avenue Food Court. There are a lot of newly open restaurant and food stalls there in Sky Avenue. One of those that i tried at Sky Avenue is WanHoi Yamcha.

Holiday at Genting Highland for 2 Days and 1 Night is actually not enough. There are a lot of food to try, a lot of games to play and for adult, the Casino is interesting, haha ! My Genting Highland trip this time is just a short getaway from my everyday hectic life, haha ! I depart from Penang by Sin Pen Bus and arrive Genting Highland at around 3.00 pm and stay a night here. The next day i depart from Genting Highland at around 4.00 pm.

Whether you are going to have tea or eating toast, it does not matter, Toastea Coffee have all three. Haha, why all three ? haha !! Toast, Tea and Coffee .. I don't know how i come up with such thing, anyway, just disregard what i said earlier, hahaha ! It must be the coffee from last night that gets my brain all messed up, haha !

Toastea Coffee is located at Summerton, Penang. I actually lost track which shop Toastea Coffee is replacing this time. Shops at Summerton, Penang seems to be changing over time, so it does not matter to me which shop Toastea Coffee is replacing, haha !

Environment here is nice and their service is good too.

Nissin Noodles RM 6.90
(Egg And Suasage)

Nissin Noodles Mix RM 8.90
(Egg, Chicken Luncheon, Ham And Sausage)

Kaya Butter Toast RM 3.50

Honey Lemon RM 3.40

Overall i feel that the food here is average, i like their toast though but the Nissin Noodles is just average.

Kota | When Francis Meets Rempah | @ Fort Cornwallis, Penang

By : Chha

Fort Cornwallis or also know as Kota Cornwallis in Malay is a star fort located in George Town, Penang, Malaysia built by the British East India Company in the late 18th century. Fort Cornwallis is the largest standing fort in Malaysia. In its entire history, the fort has never engaged in any battle. It is named after the then Governor-General of Bengal, Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis, who had also been involved in the American War of Independence. (Source)

Captain Francis Light took possession of Penang Island from the Sultan of Kedah in 1786 and built the original fort. It was a palm trunk stockade with no permanent structures. The fort's purpose was to protect Penang from pirates and Kedah. (Source).

Even though Captain Francis Light died in 1794, Fort Cornwallis still stand tall and proud in Penang Island. It is really an awesome idea for Kota restaurant to be open inside of Fort Cornwallis itself. Probably many of you might be wondering, what is it like for Captain Francis Light when he first come to Penang and see all the herbs and spices. "When Francis Meets Rempah" in the "Kota" ?? Haha !

Ok, now being located inside Fort Cornwallis, Kota | Dine And Coffee | is not a hard place to find. Their service is really superb too especially the one who serve me since the moment i enter Kota. I did not make any reservation and was kinda disappointed when then place is fully booked. The waiter come out and tell me that i can have a sit outside and wait for awhile if i would still like to dine in here, so i did, i waited outside. He is constantly checking and ensuring me that it won't be long until i get my table and when i finally get my table, he take my order and serve food like a pro ! haha .. two thumbs up for this waiter. Good service, he deserve a pay raise ! hahaha !

It is also disappointing that all Kota signature dish already sold out. So i have to order other dish. Amazingly, it is tasty too .. no wonder Kota is fully booked. My suggestion is, come early and make reservation to avoid disappointment, haha !

Sunset RM 16.00
Watermelon | Mint | Lime | Sprite

The Sunset drinks is a combination of Watermelon, Mint, Lime and Sprite. It is very refreshing to drink.

Hokkien RM 25.00
Blue Prawn | Shallot | Chilli | Bisque | Sambal Prawn
(A refined version of the famous Penang prawn noodles taking the form at Italian Capellini with bisque reduction and sous vide quail egg)

My personal favorite is this plate of Hokkien. It is actually a Chinese Cuisine call the Hokkien Noodles but the way the chef here prepare it is different. The taste is different and the noodles they use here is different too but it is tasty.

Nyonya RM 25.00
Rendang | Butterfly Pea Flower | Coconut Rice | Achar | Otak-Otak
(Kota Signature blue Nyonya rice plate incorporating various flavourful sides into one impressive ensemble)

I've been thinking and thinking, what should i call "Otak-Otak" in English ? If i were to direct translate it into English then i will sound really weird, it will become "Brain-Brain", hahahaha ! Anyway, the Otak-Otak is tasty and the Achar is wonderful too. This Nyonya dish is a little bit spicy.

Nasi Lemak RM 25.00
Rice | Coconut Milk | Chicken | Spice | Peanut | Ikan Bilis | Sunny Side Up
(Malaysia's most popilar breakfast of nasi lemak with deep fried rempah chicken and anchovy topped with a sunny side up)

Nasi Lemak at Kota come in very big size and the rice will make you feel very full. The Ikan Bilis and Peanut is crunchy and the Chicken taste good.

Dining here is really awesome, where else in Penang can you dine in a Fort ? haha ! The food is good and the environment is nice. Though it may be a little bit pricey but it is worth it. One thing about Kota that you should take note is, in order to reach Kota, you will have to park your car outside of Fort Cornwallis then walk inside and pay entrance fee for Fort Cornwallis.

Entrance Fee to Fort Cornwallis :

Non-Mykad
Adult : RM 20.00
Children : RM 10.00

With-Mykad
Adult : RM 10.00
Children : RM 5.00

I am not sure if this little information is still valid but i read from somewhere that if you dine in Kota for more than RM 20.00 per person then you can void the Entrance Fee to Fort Cornwallis. I am not sure because i went at night but what i am confident and sure is starting from December 2016 onward, every dinner sessions from 7.00 pm to 10.30 pm, admissions tickets into the fort is no longer required.
