Ah Lai Coffee Shop @ Gat Lebuh Gereja, Penang

By : Chha

The moment we enter this little Ah Lai Coffee Shop, we notice this sign of no photography allowed, are they for real ? haha .. anyway, we did snap some photo of the food but not the surrounding of the coffee shop. Some call this as the Ah Lai Cafe Under The Big Tree because it really is placed directly under a big shady tree. It is not an awesome or fancy coffee shop but it is really famous for its Maggie Curry With Cheese. Yah, you heard it right .. Cheese !!

Maggie Curry With Cheese

We think that this Maggie Curry actually taste normal, just like any ordinary instant noodles that anyone can cook, but the only thing special about it is there is cheese. The cheese is so mild that it does not change the taste of the Maggie Curry. So it does taste like a normal instant Maggie Curry.

Kopi Peng Special

Now this is something .. it taste good ! haha .. Kopi in english means Coffee, Peng means Ice .. so it means Ice Coffee, haha ! There is nothing special about the name, but the taste is .. we just can't figure out what is so special about this Kopi Peng, but it taste nice .. ! what makes it so tasty ? Is it the Coffee ?? the Sugar ?? the Water ?? Arrrr ... !

Toast With Egg And Sausage

Hmm, normal .. haha ! it taste just like how it looks to be .. haha !

Well for piglets, we feel that if readers are looking for a simple food for breakfast, this place will do the trick. With noodles, bread and coffee .. its a filling breakfast for us .. !

Via Via @ Yogyakarta, Indonesia

By : Chha

Well we are about confuse on how to categorize this place, haha .. it is Via Via the Cafe ?? or Shop Or Guesthouse ?? anyway .. from what we see, it looks more like a cafe, so where will terms it as a cafe, haha .. if you need more info, you can visit their page Via Via is located at the same place as Warung Heru and Lawas 613 Cafe.

Via Via serve mostly Indonesian dishes with some other dish like pastas, salads, sandwich bar, steaks and  tapas with also daily changing menu. Via Via also have their daily special menu, which we think is awesome as their customers can try different food everyday. They also serve breakfast with food ranging from brown bread with cheese, a bowl of muesli with yogurt and fresh tropical fruits, jaffles and pancakes, also some freshly made juices and milkshakes.

Otak-Otak Tengiri
(grilled wrapped mackerel fish cake, served with rice, sambal and vegetables)
IDR 32 K

To us piglets, we feel that the food is average. The Otak-Otak Tengiri is just ok, the Otak-Otak is actually very different from what we at back in Malaysia, it is not spicy nor juicy. The sambal here is different as well, it tasted a bit sour and not spicy .. ! haha, typical Malaysian huh ? It is only spicy if it is burning hot at our tongue .. haha !

Via Via environment is nice, a nice place to dine in. There are some dimly lit place, which is kinda romantic we must say .. haha !

But if you are not into dining in dark area, haha .. there is other seating place ..

There is this are where they sell souvenir and there is also some seating place available.

Here are the items in the menu.

Warung Heru @ Yogyakarta, Indonesia

By : Chha

Warung Heru is the first place piglets stop for a meal once arrive at Yogyakarta. It is located at the famous club, bar and cafe street of Prawirotaman. Warung Heru is the one we think serve more local taste food. It is said to serve Javanese Cuisine but we are not sure if the one we ate are really Javanese Cuisine, haha .. we dont even know how a Javanese Cuisine looks or taste like ... hahaha ! Well assuming it to be true, we tried out the Nasi Soto.

Nasi Soto
(Traditional Javanese Yellow Chicken Soup served with Rice and also Shrimp Cracker)
IDR 25 K

This nasi soto is tasty. Other than this nasi soto, we did not try on other food from Warung Heru as we are only there for an evening tea break, though this is not tea, haha .. but we needed something to fill our empty stomach before dinner as we were all starving already.

The environment in Warung Heru is not bad too.

Piglets were told by the waitress that the owner of this place is a famous local singer from the band Shaggydog in Yogjakarta.

A Smile Means More Than A Thousand Words

it is like breaking a lot of our piglets norm in writing this post .. no no no .. it should be, it is breaking a lot of piglets rules even by just thinking of writing this post .. haha .. we piglets never do this, which is to post our photos into this blog and letting the world see how piggy we really are, hahaha ! but with permission from the other piglets .. me .. as part of Piglet's Land owner is taking the first step out in doing this .. there is this nuffnang contest thing going on which offer its members to get correction for their teeth by using invisalign treatment. I was instantly O.O (piggy style .. haha !) when i saw nuffnang posting in their blog, but then being the typical piggy-me, i thought to myself .. nah, the winner will never be me .. but it is really hard for me to totally forget about the contest, i keep thinking and thinking about it, because the fact is .. i've been longing for a chance to correct my teeth since .. probably the day i first notice my teeth is crooked ? Then i thought to my self, whats-up right ? There is no harm on trying to write a post for a chance to a life(teeth)-changing experience, hahaha LoL ~. So here I am writing after consulting the other piglets in Piglet's Land. Though it was kinda discouraging at first to get negative responds with some saying that teeth correction are only meant for girls .. I was like 'WHAT ?! O.O' ( there goes my small eyes trying to be big again ). Don't guys deserve to have perfectly straight nice teeth ?? Despite all those dispute on the rules and norm of piglets in Piggy Land, our loving Piggy Land Family still gives me the green light to proceed writing. Yay !

So what is the most memorable story in which you managed to escape an embarrassing moment or crisis with a bright smile ? For me, i can't go on a day without smiling, well, unless there is no one for me to smile to of course .. haha ! I smile most of the time, when ever i see people .. may it be strangers or people i know because i feel that it is so rude to stares at people if they happen to look at me .. therefore i prefer to smile regardless if the other person smile back or not. There are several times i told my self to put a straight face and just stares if the other person looks at me, but i fail miserably ! I end up smiling .. haha ! Oh how much i wish i can put a big bright white smile. It never happen because of my crooked teeth. Often people tell me to smile when taking pictures which i did but what they want is the bright white teeth showing smile from me which i don't dare to do due to my crooked teeth.

There was this one time, where me and my friend attended an event. This event was actually organize by a language center for their students to go and meet more people and understand the culture of their country, at the same time to practice the language they learn in class, which is German Language. I have no idea how the language sound like nor am i a student of the language center, but i join the event because my friend invited me to. The whole day was basically a mess for me, i dont even understand a single word they say, but i just smile when ever someone looks at me. At the end of the day, the organizer went in front of the crowd to give a closing speech and out of a sudden he point at me and speak something in german. Everyone turns around to look at me. I almost faint and i cant even feel my heart beat, as if it ran out from my chest and jump out through the windows then got ran over by a car. So what i did ? i smile ... this time with my mouth wide open displaying a nice set of crooked teeth. Still i don't know what the organizer is saying. Some would walk towards me and say 'danke' while shaking my hand .. which i now know it means 'thanks' but for what ? I keep smiling and smiling while shaking hands and nodding my head as if i understand what they are saying until my friend and the organize walks up to me and explain that the organizer notice that i am new and have been smiling from the moment i enter the place, they would like to thank me for taking the time to attend their event and at the end of it, it was really nice to be able to see me smile with my mouth wide open ... i responded 'u mean like this ?!' -->

Blue Reef Fish And Chips @ Straits Quay, Penang

By : Chha

Blue Reef Fish & Chips, piglets love everything about this place, the environment is nice. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we like both of the seating area. The indoor seating area are well organize and it looks so classy with its well planned design.

Since Blue Reef is located by the quay, customer can choose to have the outdoor seating to enjoy the view of the quay, hehe !

While at the indoor area, there is also a mini bar area.

Here is the are that we piglets love, which is the place where they display drawing on the wall. Some of the drawing are cute, we think it is draw by kids, hehe ..

This is how the menu looks like, nothing fancy.

And now for the foooooood ! All are yuuuuummmmmmyyyy !! hehehe ...

Fresh Soup with Crouton RM8 (Regular) RM14 (Large)

The soup is big, because we order large, haha .. but its worth it .. We were told that this is a carrot soup, but it don't looks like carrot soup and it only taste 10% like a carrot soup 90% like corn soup, but it is tasty .. we clean up the whole bowl .. haha !

We were actually surprise to see this, we thought that the mashed potato would come in a small size of a small tiny bowl, but it turn out to be a big plate of mashed potato, really filling only by eating this.

Smoked Salmon Carbonara Linguine RM23
(Smoked Salmon, Slivers of Cherry Tomato, Cream & grated Parmesan)
