Pork Rice Porridge (Congee) Stall @ Hatyai, Thailand

By : Chha

During my visit to Hatyai for Songkran Festival i found this little stall by the road side which is selling yummy Pork Rice Porridge (Congee). If you are not familiar with Hatyai Town then this little stall here will be hard for you to find but if you know where Aloha Hotel is, then this stall is just right beside Aloha Hotel. It is not a big place, it is kinda hidden at the side of Aloha Hotel with only a few tables and chairs by the road side. The Pork Rice Porridge (Congee) here is tasty, i love it. It is cheap as well.

S.WINE Wine & Dine Restaurant @ Queensbay Mall, Penang

By : Chha

You know what does the little piglet tell her mom when her mom don't let her go out to hunt for food ? She say, 'Don't go bacon my heart', hahaha ! Wait, i am the only one laughing to this lame joke ? Ok, my point here is, there is a new restaurant now open inside of Queensbay Mall that serve pork, yehh pork ! go pork, go pork ! Opss, the word pork is kinda sensitive in Pinky Piglet Land, it might 'Bacon some heart', haha ! Ok, enough, before i get carried away talking nonsense thing again.

Little Yangon Hostel @ Yangon, Myanmar

By : Chha

Lil or Little Yangon Hostel which is located at Kyauktada Township at Yangon downtown is where I stay during my visit to Yangon, Myanmar. Little Yangon Hostel mission is to create a true backpacker experience for all their guests around the world. Sule Pagoda is 500 meters from Little Yangon Hostel, while Shwedagon Pagoda is 3.3 km away, so if you are fit enough to walk that far, then you can cut some cost by walking all the way to Shwedagon Pagoda. The nearest airport is Yangon International Airport which is 15 km from Little Yangon Hostel and you can easily get Taxi to come here which cost $ 10.00. Yangon downtown is a great choice for travelers who is interested in street food, city walks and street markets.

4. Notify your nominees
5. List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post.

The Question From TravelTorgeir

1. Why did you start travel blogging in the first place?
I start travel blog because of my love for travel, to share my experience and itinerary with friends and with hope that it will make their travel easier and more fun.

2. Which country would you most like to visit at the moment? And why?
None at the moment as i just come back from travel

3. Are there any places you do not want to return to ever again? If so, why?
Currently No, all the place that i've visited are so nice and amazing. Would definitely love to re-visit them again in future.

4. How do you plan your travels? Do you look up and book everything before you go, or mostly wing it after having arrived?
Most of the time i wing it after i have arrived, there are a few trips that i have to book early due to the difficulties to do booking as a walk in guest.

5. Do you have any specific travel goals each year?
Not really, for me, travelling needs to be fun and enjoyable, setting goals to it means putting myself in stress and worry of not hitting the goal.

6. Do you have any travel apps you could not do without? Which ones? And why?
No specific apps that i rely on, i am using many different apps depending on which country i travel to.

7. Do you work on your travel blog while on the road, or like me, do all the work when you get home?
I work on my travel blog the moment i start planing for a travel. All the information that i've gathered, all the do and don't, all the tips on traveling in a specific country and all the place to visit are listed out as draft on my blog.

8. What is your best advice to an aspiring travel blogger?
My advice is, enjoy your travel, don't think of it as a job (blogging), look at it as your interest. It is my interest in travel that leads me to blogging and not because of my job in blogging that leads me to travel.

9. What is the one travel experience that really stands out? Do you have one or are there several?
Every travel is a new challenge. All the unknown that i need to face when travelling on every trip. So for me, every trip that i've been to have different experience that i cherish and hold dear to my heart, may it be bad or good, but the one experience that really stands out in every country that i visit is the language barrier that i have to overcome, all the weird and funny sign language that i've used to communicated with the locals there.

10. What is the worst food you have had while travelling?
Bad food, I had many, the worst that i remember is the food was cold, with raw fish, some potatoes by the side and a lot of cream. I can't even remember the name of that dish and i have to force myself to finish it because i was starving.

11. What is the best part about being a travel blogger?
To be awarded The Sunshine Blogger Award and also being able to share my every details of experience with my friends through my blog. To help them make their trip easier and more memorable.

After asking around, i decided to take this ..

Place To Visit | Yangon @ Myanmar [ Burma ]

By : Chha

Yangon or formerly known as Rangoon is the largest city in Myanmar which is also formerly known as Burma. A mix of British colonial architecture, modern high-rises and gilded Buddhist pagodas define its skyline. Yangon is a nice place to visit for my opinion but the only thing that i don't like is the traffic. The traffic condition in Yangon is really bad, there is traffic congestion everywhere in the city of Yangon. Yangon used to be the capital of Myanmar and the capital of Yangon Region. Yangon is the country largest city with a population above seven million and is the most important commercial center although the military government officially relocated the capital to the newly built city of Naypyidaw in March 2006. (Source)

Yangon | Where To Visit :
  • Shwedagon Pagoda

I can say that Shwedagon Pagoda is the most famous Pagoda among tourist in Yangon. When ever i talk about visiting Yangon, the first place that people tell me to visit is Shwedagon Pagoda. So i did, make this as my number one must go place in Yangon.

Shwedagon Pagoda is also known as the Great Dagon Pagoda and the Golden Pagoda. The 99 metres tall pagoda is situated on Singuttara Hill to the west of Kandawgyi Lake and dominates the Yangon skyline. Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama. (Source)

As Yangon's weather is hot most of the time, it is my advice that you make Shwedagon Pagoda your first place to visit early in the morning. The reason is to escape the hot sun burning your face and your feet, haha ! To enter Shwedagon Pagoda you will need to remove your shoes and keep it at a designated shoes keeping area for tourist.

The designated shoes keeping area for tourist will have someone to look after your shoes for you and after visiting they will give you a wet tissue to clean your feet. They will request for some tips and the amount is depending on how much you wish to give them.

  • Bogyoke Aung San Market

Formerly known as Scott's Market, Bogyoke Aung San Market is a major bazaar located in Pabedan township in central Yangon, Myanmar. Known for its colonial architecture and inner cobblestone streets, the market is a major tourist destination, dominated by antique, Burmese handicraft and jewellery shops, art galleries and clothing stores. The market also has a number of stores for local shoppers, selling medicine, foodstuffs, garments and foreign goods. (Source)

I like taking a walk here at Bogyoke Aung San Market, there are so many things to see and so many things to buy. The main thing that i always look for when come to market like this is their local food, haha !

Shwe Yin Aye Ks 1000

Shwe Yin Aye is actually our local Malaysia cendol dessert. Shwe Yin Aye here in Myanmar is slightly different where they add Mont Let Saung, Sago (Tapioca), Coconut Milk Jelly, Steamed Sticky Rice, Coconut milk, Sugar, Bread, Tinned evaporated milk and Ice. The taste is actually way much tastier that those Cendol i have back home, haha !

Avocado Juice Ks 1500

I never try a Avocado Juice before and my first-try-impression was really awesome, the juice is so thick that you can tell they put the whole Avocado into the blender to make this cup of Avocado Juice instead of just to use few slice and add a lot of water. I like the taste as well. A cup of Avocado Juice like this is worth the Ks 1500 i pay for.

Directly opposite Bogyoke Aung San Market, there is a newly open shopping mall if you are interested to shop there, you can easily take the overpass to cross the busy street directly into the shopping mall.

  • Botahtaung Pagoda
  • Sule Pagoda
  • Yangon China Town
  • Kandawgyi Park
Maybe if you are able to visit all, then you can let me know if those place i miss is worth a visit so that i can plan it for my next Yangon trip ? haha !
