Doner & Pizzeria @ Babenhausen, Germany

By : Chha

If you are stranded in Babenhausen ( why am i making it sound so bad, staying here ? haha ! ). Don't worry, you won't die starving, haha ! Ok, now if you are looking for food, there are definitely a lot of food for you here in Babenhausen. There is this little kebab shop that i would like to introduce to you.

It is the Doner & Pizzeria shop in Babenhausen. They serve Beef Kebab and also various type of Pizza. I did not try the Pizza here as I am more interested in the Beef Kebab that they are serving.

The Beef Kebab tasted not bad but they put too much vegetables in my opinion. It would have been great if more beef is put in it, haha ! The size of the Beef Kebab is huge, if you have a small appetite like me, you will have hard time finishing one kebab.

Aschaffenburg @ Germany

By : Chha

Aschaffenburg ! Considered as a city, Aschaffenburg does not have much attractions for tourist. It is another city that not many tourist will visit. Information on the internet is really limited and so we went in to visit .. again .. blindly .. haha ! I think that Germany is an awesome place because every city or town that i went to, they have a tourist information center to help visiting tourist. So it makes our visit there in Aschaffenburg easier to manage. We went to the information center to grab a free map and we are on our way to explore Aschaffenburg !!

Aschaffenburg is located in northwest of Bavaria in Germany. The town of Aschaffenburg is not considered part of the district of Aschaffenburg, but is the administrative seat. The city is located at the westernmost border of Lower Franconia and separated from the central and eastern part of the administrative district by the Spessart hills, whereas it opens towards the Rhine-Main plain in the west and north-west. SP Half Marathon 2015 @ Sungai Petani, Kedah

By : Chha

Another marathon post to add to the list, haha ! Well this is the first time i join in the SP Half Marathon run but this is not the first time this marathon is held in Sungai Petani, Kedah. What i heard from friends who already join the run since the first time it was held, they said that the organizer of this marathon is improving the event year by year and also the number of participants seems to be increasing yearly, that seems to be a good thing though. It may no be as grand as some of those i participated previously but it is consider very good for the number of participants that turn up and the way the marathon was handled.

There are total of 12 categories to choose from but i choose the 21km run. During the run i have the chance to pass-by some of the village area with paddy field along our running route which is really awesome and its nice to be able to experience running at a place with green scenery. Thumbs up !

Simple Life Vegetarian @ Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

By : Chha

Simple Life is a restaurant that serve healthy vegetarian meals which are organic, natural and nutritious. Simple Life use more natural ingredients in the menu without compromising the taste and aesthetic values of the food they serve.

One example of their unique and healthy food is their chef’s recommendation, the Simple Life’s healthy Nasi Lemak, which is completely vegetarian. Cooked with virgin coconut oil, with Sambal made from carrots and cabbage, it is both spicy and delicious, resembling the usual taste of Nasi Lemak.

Brown rice is one of Simple Life’s signatures, dishes there does not contain the strong smell and starchy taste of brown rice, which is one of the main reasons why brown rice is disliked by many. Brown rice, which is high in fiber and vitamin B Complex, to refined white rice, that has high glucose content.

Simple Life focus on the nutritional aspects of eating making it a priority to ensure that all meals are natural by avoiding artificial flavouring or colouring, additives, preservatives and most importantly MSG (monosodium glutamate) while still keeping its food tastiness.

To practice a healthy vegetarian diet is by consuming more fresh vegetables and fruits and avoid processed vegetarian products, like vegetarian ‘goose’, ‘chicken’ and ‘fish’, which mainly consists of seasoned flour with colouring and additives.

Most of the food here is tasty, well i did not try all of the food from the menu, but those which i did is good.

Simple Life has their own vision which is to be the choice chain vegetarian restaurants providing quality organic food and promoting an eco-friendly diet for a healthy lifestyle and also a mission of to encourage healthy habitual diet of vegetarian food, promoting love towards the universe through environmental protection achieving the objective of co-existence between mankind and nature.

Other than food, the drinks here taste good also.

Simple Life is a nice vegetarian restaurant with tasty food and nice environment.

So to all vegetarian lover if you are in Mid Valley Kuala Lumpur, can try out the vegetarian food at Simple Life.

Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony @ Gyeongbokgung Palace, South Korea

By : Chha

If you are new to Gyeongbokgung Palace then i would suggest you to read the previous post first become reading this one. You can get the entrance fee, direction and some information on the Gyeongbokgung Palace from the previous post.

In Gyeongbokgung Palace they do have a few programs for their visitors or you can say, it is something like a performance. One of it is the changing of guards call the Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony. So far i dont see any blog or travel post mention about the exact location where the guard changing ceremony will take place as there is so many gate in Gyeongbokgung Palace. We almost enter the wrong gate and almost miss the ceremony.

The Exact Location :

The Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony is held at the Gwanghwamun Gate, which is the first gate to the Gyeongbokgung Palace but you will need to wait at the square which is the area where the tickets counter is. Meaning to stand after Gwanghwamun Gate and before Heungnyumun Gate.

Before the ceremony start, they will sound the Traditional Korean Drum as a sign that the ceremony will start. Each drum beat has it own meaning and things that they need to do.

Ceremony Procedure (Source) :
  1. The first drumbeat signal sounds and the relieving guard unit mobilizes towards Gwanghwamun Gate.
  2. The second drumbeat signal sounds and the relieving guard unit moves outside of Gwanghwamun Gate, and the chief of the relieving guard unit and the chief of the guard unit on duty perform an identification check.
  3. The chief of the relieving guard unit orders his unit to take their positions at the gate and the relieved guard unit mobilizes to the inside of the gate.
  4. The third drumbeat signal sounds and the chief of the relieved guard unit orders his unit to exit the vicinity.

Ceremony Participants (Source) :

Position: Keeper of the Royal Palace Gates
Duty: Responsible for guarding the palace gates

Position: Chief Keeper of the Royal Palace Gates
Duty: In charge of guarding the palace gates and commanding the Sumungun

Position: Deputy Keeper of the Royal Palace Gates
Duty: Daejonggo (Management of Large Bells and Drums)

Position: Lieutenant to the Chief Keeper
Duty: Assistance to the Chief Keeper, and management of the gate book

Position: Armed Guardsman
Duty: Guarding the palace gate

Position: Regular Guard
Duty: Private soldier of the Joseon's central army

Position: Subordinate Soldier
Duty: Sentry of the palace gate

Position: Jeollugun
Duty: Delivery of time for the royal court

Position: Military Band Musician
Duty: Member of a royal military band

The Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony is actually a very simple ceremony which takes about 20 minutes to complete but we feel that it is worth the time to actually witness the ceremony ourselves since we are already there, why waste it right ?

There is only 3 slots a day for the Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony which is at 10:00 am, 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

Other than the Sumunjang (Royal Guard) Changing Ceremony there is still other programs available at different time such as the Gwanghwamun Gate Guard-on-Duty Performance at 11:00 am, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The other one is the Sumungun (Gatekeeper) Military Training outside of Hyeopsaengmun Gate at 9:35 am and 12:35 pm.

Eco Life : Rengit Excelsa Coffee @ Bukit Mertajam, Penang

By : Chha

First and foremost, i would like to thank Mr Leow from Eco Life shop for inviting me over to Eco Life. It was really nice to be able to learn about how can we make our own great cup of coffee at home. So if you are a coffee enthusiast, then this will be really handy for you. Eco Life shop is not a coffee house but instead it is a retail shop selling local coffee beans and some simple to use equipment for you to brew your own great cup of coffee at home and have fun doing it.

The good thing about brewing your own cup of coffee at home is that you have the ability to brew the type of coffee which is most suitable to your own taste. Isn't it great to be able to have a cup of self brew coffee at the comfort of your own home by using our own country local grown coffee beans ?

Gyeongbokgung Palace @ Seoul, South Korea

By : Chha

Visiting palace and gates seems to be like something that someone must do when visiting South Korea. Even the tour agency is promoting those few famous palaces in Korea. Hmm, well we did some scouting and found few famous palace but we don't have time to visit all, so we choose the most famous one which is the Gyeongbokgung (경복궁) Palace. Gyeongbokgung Palace is really a very big place. It takes us around 4 to 5 hours to walk through the palace taking photos, we did even skip some place but not much so we think 4 to 5 hours should be enough for you to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace. If you have plan to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, then we would like to also suggest you to also visit :

Gwanghwamun Plaza (광화문광장)
Cheonggyecheon Stream (청계천)
National Folk Museum of Korea (국립민속박물관) - Inside Gyeongbokgung Palace
Tosokchon Samgyetang (토속촌 삼계탕) - Food

As these place is near to each other.

Magnum Cafe @ Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur

By : Chha

I guess everyone know by now that there is a Magnum Cafe in Kuala Lumpur. To be more specific, it is actually located in Mid Valley Megamall. Since they day it open i tried numerous times to go and try out the Magnum Ice Cream that they are selling there but every time i went, it's full with people lining up like a 'snake' from inside Magnum Cafe until outside of the cafe. I gave up waiting that is why it takes me so long before i can write my own review on Magnum Cafe, haha ! Well i still need to line up to get my ice cream even after so long Magnum Cafe has been operating in Mid Valley but at least this time the line is shorter, phew !

The Magnum Cafe is actually a two level cafe which i think not many people know, well i didn't, haha ! The first floor is where the long line up is. Lining up waiting for turn to get my customize Magnum Ice Cream.

Customize Magnum Ice Cream RM9.90

There is two type of coating for the ice cream that you can choose from, Chocolate Brownie or Classic Vanilla.

Then you may add 3 types of topping to it from the many many choices of topping. For me, i choose the Chopped Hazelnut, Culinary Rose Petals and Gold Nuggets.

Mix it together and put in on the ice cream, yay !

Now, lets go up to second floor. At first, i thought of going up to find a place, sit down and enjoy my Magnum Ice Cream, when i was trying to take the stairs up i was stopped by the staff there saying that the second floor is for Magnum Plated Desserts and Hot Food Only. Well, i end up ordering another plate of dessert so that i can sit at the second floor.

Ordering another dessert just to get up to the second floor for a seat sounds like a waste right ? But in this case, it is all worth it !

Magnum Triple Choc Cookie Skillet RM33.00
(Two vanilla Magnum bar covered with cookies, warm freshly baked triple chocolate cookie dough)

It takes them some time to prepare the Magnum Triple Choc Cookie Skillet but waiting in this type of comfortable and nice environment, i have nothing to complain .. haha !

The dessert is .. 1 word ! Perfect .. ! The outer layer is crunchy with thick taste of chocolate and the filling is still hot with melted chocolate. The chocolate is still in liquid form when i cut it open and it is flowing out on to the plate, really yummy ! If i were to give a 10/10 rating for food review, this is one of it !

Chocolate Flowing Out.
